Juvenile Books: Big Books
Over the last few weeks, several collections have been 'shifted' on the library second floor to facilitate an increased space for the juvenile collection. Curriculum textbooks, activity books, big books, leveled book kits, and the Newbery and Caldecott award sections all remain on the second floor, but they have slightly different locations. If you are unfamiliar with the IRC's Juvenile Big Book collection, this short video features information about big books. Juvenile Big Books
Juvenile big books are now easier than ever to locate in the stacks! Each title has a new call number beginning with BigBk and followed by a number; they are numerical on the hanging bar and each section labeled (BigBk 001 - BigBk 020) corresponding to the titles displayed.The juvenile big book collection currently includes 137 titles, view the full collection using other call number and entering BigBk or search by title in the library catalog.

Big Books new home
As reported on Friday, the big books are no longer crowded together in two rolling carts outside of the listening lab on the second floor. Each big book has been placed in large hanging media bag and the entire big book collection relocated next to the book kits.
Call numbers are located at the top left / bottom left side next to the spine of each book. Additionally call numbers remain the same, library of congress for juvenile literature; the collection has the added functionality of browse-ability.
Hanging bags will make it easier to transport big books to and from the library and provide protection for the book during inclement weather. Stop in and see the new big book area the next time you are in the library.

Coming Soon! New Big Book Area
The juvenile big book collection will soon be moving from here ...
To here ... behind the activity books, between the audio books and book kits. Each big book will be placed in a large hanging bag making it simpler to locate and browse the collection. This afternoon the shelving was put in place and the collection move is scheduled for Monday.
