Kanopy Title Updates

We're excited to announce our Kanopy KBASE subscription has been expanded and refreshed. Ashland University faculty, students, and staff will now find:

Featured Titles for upcoming events such as Black History Month and Women’s History Month.
Newly added, subject-focused titles now available in our latest KBASE Select lists.
New Additions with 327 new titles now available.

Part of the campus-wide announced closures due to high snow levels and inclement weather, Archer Library will be closed Monday, January 26th. Be sure to check AU's Emergency Communications Plan in preparation for any further closings due to the storm. The University website and portal have posted announcements regarding closures and classes.

Remember, online library resources such as OneSearch, Databases, and Library Guides remain available to use as needed.

Due to the forecasted winter storm, Archer Library will be closed Sunday, January 25th. Be sure to check AU's Emergency Communications Plan in preparation for any further closings due to the storm. The University website will have notices regarding delays and closures available as needed.

IRC Hours Update

The Instructional Resource Center will be closed Monday, January 19th in observance of the MLK holiday. Spring hours will resume on Tuesday, January 20. A complete listing of IRC hours and updates is available on the main library calendar.

The IRC spring hours schedule begins Monday, January 12.

Monday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Tuesday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Wednesday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thursday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday: Noon to 3 p.m. & Online
Saturday & Sunday: Closed

The IRC's Spring term hours schedule starts on Monday, January 12th. Welcome back!

Juvenile Collection

The purpose of Archer Library's juvenile collection is to support the College of Education curriculum. Intended for AU students, preservice teachers, student teachers, and faculty members, the juvenile collection is also used by Ashland community borrowers and OhioLINK patrons.

Titles added to the juvenile collection, both fiction and non-fiction, are subject to professional reviews before purchase. Review resources include, but are not limited to, Booklist, Book Links, The Horn Book Magazine, School Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, and The Reading Teacher.

The juvenile collection includes award winning titles such as Newbery and Caldecott winner and honor books, Coretta Scott King award books, ALA Best Books for Young Adults, Notable Children's books, and Children's and Teacher's Choice award books.

Students are encouraged to preview, read and evaluate books before using them in a classroom setting. This step is necessary to determine if selected titles are appropriate for individual classroom situations. If you have questions about a particular title, consult with your professor or cooperating teacher before using it in the classroom.
