Watch the Youth Media Awards, Live!

Monday, January 27th, the American Library Association (ALA), Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), and Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA)will announce the Youth Media Awards at the ALA Midwinter meetings in Philadelphia, PA.

Mock Caldecott Panel

Each semester, Dr. Mary Rycik's EDEC 323 Tradebooks and Technology with Literature students meet in the IRC to conduct a Mock Caldecott Award Panel. Titles selected for review by the panel meet criteria established by the Association for Library Services for Children, American Library Association Medal committee.

About the titles: Picture books considered were recent additions to the AU library juvenile collection and included well known illustrators and those new to the picture book category. A variety of artistic mediums were represented including collage, guache, painted olis, pencil, watercolors, and mixed media.



Mr. Tiger Goes Wild, by Peter Brown, was selected as the Mock Caldecott Award winner. The Dark, illustrated by Jon Klassen, was selected as an honor book. All of the titles reviewed are located on the IRC Mock Caldecott Panels Pinterest board.

  • Sunday, January 19th - closed
  • Monday, January 20th - open 6 - 10 pm

IRC Pinterest Board: MLK Resources

Visit the IRC Pinterest site and view the MLK, Jr. board for a selection of resources for Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement; included are fiction & nonfiction, picture books and early readers. IRC Pinterest: Materials Kits

Visit the IRC Pinterest board, Materials Kits to view recent collection additions. Our materials kit collection features puppets, flannel board stories, dry erase boards, and games for math, science, language arts, social studies, music, and other subject areas. IRC Hours UpdateL 1/7/14

Ashland University Library and the Instructional Resource Center (IRC) will close at 5:00 pm today.  Regular hours for the semester will resume Wednesday, January 8th. A complete listing of IRC hours and updates is available on the IRC web site.

Library & IRC Closed: 1/6/14

Ashland University Library and the Instructional Resource Center (IRC) will be closed Monday, January 6th.

As reported on the University web site and campus alerts, classes are cancelled and offices closed on Monday (1/6).
"University & Seminary Closed Monday; Classes Canceled for Monday & Tuesday - All AU campuses closed Monday due to weather conditions and all AU classes are canceled for Monday & Tuesday of this week. Essential staff only will report to work on Monday."
Information regarding hours for Tuesday, January 7th, will be posted as it becomes available.
